Flash forward to May 1973, the year Sly & the Family Stone released "Fresh," an essential funk milestone heralded by Miles Davis, George Clinton and millions of fans. Sly Stone wrote, produced and arranged every song on "Fresh," with the exception of an up-tempo version of "Qu Ser Ser (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)," the first and only cover song on a Family Stone release. As seen here, Sly had access to groovy mod geometry and the highest audio tech the early 1970s had to offer and put it all to good use in the grooves of his music.
