Johnny Cash Sitting on a Couch Playing His Guitar, 1960 - Fine Art Print
Description:
Born in Kingsland, Arkansas, on February 26, 1932, and christened "J.R. Cash" when his stubborn mother and equally cantankerous father could only agree on initials, country music's future man-in-black literally named himself ''John R. Cash" when enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. When signing with Sun Records in 1955, he chose Johnny as his stage name. A genius of self-invention with deep spiritual links to the core of the American psyche and experience, Johnny Cash is seen here surrounded by totems of the American west - a wagon-wheel lamp, an empty holster on the wall, chaps and stirrups on the wooden table next to his song notes -- and the tools of his trade: two guitars and a banjo pointing upward like the cactus in the desert painting behind him.
