Johnny Cash Portrait in the Field, 1959 - Fine Art Print
Description:
Don Hunstein shot this rural side of Johnny Cash outside a ranch in San Antonio, Texas, in 1959. Columbia Records had already released no less than three albums of music from the emerging country artist they'd recently lured away from Sun Records in Memphis. One of these, "Songs of Our Soil," belied the rockabilly of Cash's Sun Records roots by drawing heavily on themes of grief and loss, death and mortality, showing an early intimation of the weight of his man-in-black reputation.
