Gould is sitting on an ancient worn-out chair that had been made by his father and became so closely associated with the pianist that it is now immortalized in a glass case at the National Library of Canada. The 30th Street Studios themselves were housed in the brick building that had once been the Adams Memorial Presbyterian Church and though the stained glass windows had been boarded up, the pews and organ replaced with soundboards and microphones, the studio's natural acoustics were heavenly and the music made there simply divine.
